TikTok is back in app stores

Welcome to Garbage Weekend. It’s the internet garbage you know and love, but in a format that’s easier to read while you ignore your Valentine’s Day date.

This week, multiple judges blocked the most egregious shutdowns by President Elon Musk’s Department Of Government Efficiency (DOGE). However Musk and DOGE decide to react, you won’t see it on their website, especially since the databases it uses are unsecured. The US government is so powerful, dude, they’re getting so many map services to change the Gulf of Mexico’s name… meanwhile, TikTok is back in app stores. And President Trump has become office decor for Musk. Sad! Musk’s other power move this week was offering to buy OpenAI, in an effort to complicate the company’s switch from not-quite-profit to definitely-for-profit. So far, the main complication is a deeply embarrassing Twitter fight.
