Our taxes are paying for Elon's new podcast

Welcome to Garbage Weekend. It’s the internet garbage you know and love, but in a format that’s easier to read while you look for literally anything that isn’t advertising the Wicked movie.

This week, the US government officially became podcast grifters, as Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy announced they plan to make “seperate DOGEcasts” with taxpayer money. Just what the founding fathers intended! Meanwhile Bluesky continued growing by about a million users a day. It’s officially passed the threshold where Meta has started to adapt Threads to copy it. Bluesky has also now joined the culture war somehow. Congrats? Let’s hope the team doesn’t celebrate like the Paul Brothers. For another mark of success, the Department of Justice has gotten serious about breaking up Google’s monopoly, though let’s check back on how that’s going on in a couple months.
