The Jesus Minions Of TikTok

Read to the end for Prozac cat

Welcome to Garbage Weekend. It’s the internet garbage you know and love, but in a format that’s easier to read while you patiently await the return of Garbage Day. I’ll be back August 19th!

(Drop an “Amen” in the comments if you believe.)

This week, Vice President Kamala Harris officially overtook former President Donald Trump in the polls. Maybe it was the power of having Bon Iver play a Civil War-era protest song at her rally. Or maybe it’s because Trump’s strongest rebuttal of Harris so far is to spell her name wrong on purpose. But according to data that Garbage Day researcher Adam Bumas and I pulled recently, Harris is also leading on social media, as well. It’s not just the culture war bubble that’s bursting, though. The AI industry is having a tough time, as well. So it seems like a perfect time to launch a new AI wearable.

Oh well, here’s some fun stuff…

Oh Wait, Also, I’m Throwing A Party At XOXO Fest Later This Month

I’m teaming up with my dear friends at Hear Me Out, a culture strategy firm in Brooklyn, on a pre-XOXO party in Portland later this month on August 22nd. They do a monthly “low-key networking” event in New York where no one can ask what you do. Love it.

Our XOXO pre-party is free, but it’s also first-come, first serve. lol I sure would hate if everyone showed up at once and there was a big line and people couldn’t get in and then we like got a reputation for throwing an epic and exclusive rager. Anyways, yes, you will be able to meet other brain-rotted digital media professionals. But you will also be able to listen to some great music, grab a drink, and vibe before things get crazy at the fest. If you hate networking, you’ll like this.
